Open Summer Punta Umbría 2026
Punta Umbría's summer-opening festival — concerts and street parties that kick off the Huelva coast's season.
Open Summer is the festival that throws open the season on the Huelva coast. Held in the seaside town of Punta Umbría in mid-to-late June, it packs more than twenty concerts and a run of street parties into a single weekend, signalling that the long Atlantic summer is properly under way.
What to expect. A friendly, local, free-to-enjoy event — stages around the town, a mix of Spanish pop and tribute acts, food and drink stalls, and the relaxed, family-and-friends atmosphere that defines this stretch of coast. It's the sort of fiesta where you'll be among Spanish holidaymakers rather than tour groups.
Practical bit. Punta Umbría sits on a sandy spit across the estuary from Huelva city, backed by pine forest and fronted by enormous Atlantic beaches. The nearest airports are Faro in Portugal (often the cheapest from the UK, about an hour and a quarter away) and Seville. Public transport along this coast is sparse, so a hire car is close to essential — but it also puts the empty beaches and the Doñana edge within easy reach.
If you want to see the real, low-key Costa de la Luz before the August crowds, this is a great weekend to arrive.
