Classic Cinema Summer Nights
Free open-air screenings of classic films under the stars every Thursday at 22:00, from late June through July, in the new plaza at the top of Calvario Street in the historic Pou old-town quarter. The 2026 line-up mixes Spanish classics with crowd-pleasers like Young Frankenstein, The Party and Airplane!.
Now in its second summer, "Un Pou de cine" turns a small new plaza at the top of Calle Calvario into an outdoor cinema once a week. It's tucked away in the Pou quarter, one of Cullera's oldest corners, and the climb up the narrow streets is part of the charm. Six Thursdays, all comedies, all on a proper big screen with the night sky overhead.
The line-up leans on laughs rather than highbrow fare. You'll get Spanish classics like Bienvenido, Mister Marshall sat next to Mel Brooks, Peter Sellers and the daft brilliance of Airplane!. The Spanish titles are screened in their original language, but the physical comedy and the warm crowd carry you along regardless. Bring something to sit on, and don't rush off afterwards. It's free, it's local, and it has the feel of a neighbourhood doing something for the love of it.
