Planakanta: Traditional Latin American Songs
A free open-air evening concert of traditional Latin American folk songs in the atmospheric Artillery Park beside Peñíscola's hilltop castle. Just turn up and enjoy the music under the night sky.
Things kick off at half nine, once the heat has eased and the old town has gone quiet for the evening. The Artillery Park sits up by the castle walls, so you get the stone ramparts on one side and the sea breeze on the other while the music plays. Expect acoustic folk songs from across Latin America: guitars, gentle harmonies, the sort of set that drifts from wistful to toe-tapping and back again.
It's free and there's no fuss about it. Bring a bottle of water, find a spot, and let the evening run its course. Afterwards the cobbled lanes down towards the harbour are still busy, so it pairs nicely with a late dinner. A relaxed, low-key way to spend a summer night, and a good excuse to climb up to the castle quarter after dark.
