Patron Saint Fiestas of the Virgen del Carmen, Castell de Ferro
Castell de Ferro's main patron saint celebration honours the Virgin of Carmen, protector of fishermen, with over 30 events across four days: a seaside procession with the Virgin's image carried out over the water, plus flamenco, live music, sports tournaments, a popular paella and an equestrian show. The exact 2026 programme is published by the town hall closer to the dates.
The day everyone turns out for is the Wednesday. After a solemn mass for the Virgin, her image is carried along the town's beaches in a maritime procession, then back through the streets, before the band strikes up for the evening verbena. It's worth being on the sand for that one. The fiestas run across four days, from the opening Tuesday, when the fairground lights come on at midnight, to the closing fireworks.
Thursday shifts to the El Romeral neighbourhood for the romería, with popular games, water inflatables, petanca and a big communal paella. Friday winds down with football tournaments and a magic and aerial-acrobatics show in the Plaza de España before the firework castle by the beach. It's a proper local fiesta, free to wander into and busy after dark. The town hall publishes the full programme closer to the time.
