TICCAD: Where Hands Create and the Soul Sings
A morning of hands-on craft-making and song at Tijarafe's central square, billed as 'where hands create and the soul sings'. A relaxed open-air community gathering of artisans and music that visitors can simply wander into.
Tijarafe sits up on La Palma's quieter western side, and on the morning of 20 June its main square turns over to its makers. Things get going around ten, with local artisans setting up at Plaza de La Paz and music threading through the stalls as the day warms. The town council runs it, and the name says the rest: hands at work, voices raised, nobody in a hurry.
You don't need a ticket or a plan. Wander in, watch a craft take shape, listen to a song or two, and let one of the islanders explain what they're making if the language allows. It's the sort of small, unhurried gathering you stumble on and remember longer than the big fiestas. Bring a hat and some change for whatever catches your eye.
