"Alè" Concert Series: Balcan Bus (open-air concert)
An open-air summer concert by the band Balcan Bus, kicking off Alaró's 'Alè' music series. A relaxed village evening of live music that needs no Spanish to enjoy; further dates run on 10, 17 and 24 July.
Balcan Bus trade in the brass-heavy, fast-footed sound of the Balkans, the kind of gypsy-and-ska racket that gets even reluctant feet moving. They open Alaró's summer concert run on a July evening, kicking off at nine once the worst of the heat has eased off. No need to follow the words; the trumpets and the rhythm do all the talking.
Alaró sits inland below the old castle hill, a working Mallorcan village rather than a coastal resort, so the crowd skews local and the mood is easy. Bring something to sit on, grab a drink from a nearby bar, and let the band fill the square. If you take to it, the series carries on the next three Fridays in July with different acts.
