Open-Air Cinema in Catalan
Free open-air summer cinema screenings on Wednesday evenings in July. A lovely warm-night village tradition, though films are shown in Catalan, so best suited to residents or Catalan/Spanish speakers.
On three Wednesday evenings in July, Alaró sets up a screen outdoors and the town gathers to watch a film under the stars. Showings start around 9pm, once the heat of the day has eased and the swifts have gone quiet over the rooftops. People bring the kids, find a seat, and settle in for a couple of hours of cinema in the open air, the sort of low-key village evening that Mallorcan towns do well in summer.
One thing to know before you go: the films are screened in Catalan, with no English subtitles. So unless you speak the language, you'll follow the pictures more than the plot. It's a genuinely nice thing to drop in on if you're staying in the area and fancy an evening among locals rather than a polished tourist event. Entry is free, and the relaxed mood is the real draw.
