Mare de Déu d'Agost 2026 — Mallorca
Assumption Day, 15 August, is a public holiday that sparks processions and town fiestas right across the island.
The Mare de Déu d'Agost — the Feast of the Assumption on 15 August — is one of Spain's great summer public holidays, and across Mallorca it's a focal point for patron-saint fiestas. Many towns time their festes majors to the date, so the island fills with processions, correfocs, concerts, verbenas and fireworks all at once, from inland villages to the coastal resorts.
What to expect. No single event but a whole island in celebration — pick a town and you'll likely find something on. The mid-August timing means warm nights and a holiday mood, but also peak crowds and closures. Check the local programme for wherever you're based.
Practical bit. With fiestas happening everywhere on the same day, a hire car lets you choose your celebration — a buzzing resort verbena or a quieter mountain-village fiesta — and get home afterwards. Book the car early, as 15 August is one of the busiest dates of the Mallorcan summer.
