The Binigaus Band Live at Plaça des Born

Ciutadella saves its evenings for nights like this. The Plaça des Born is the town's big ceremonial square, ringed by old palaces and the town hall, with the stone obelisk standing in the middle. The band strikes up at 10pm, once the worst of the June heat has eased and the square has filled with families, couples and a fair few dogs.

There's no ticket and no fuss. People drift over from the surrounding bars, claim a patch of warm stone or a café chair, and settle in. It's the kind of free summer gig you can stumble into without a plan and stay longer than you meant to. Arrive a touch early if you want a proper view of the stage, then let the night do the rest.
