Pego Patron Saint Festivals (Santissim Ecce Homo)
Pego's main town fiesta in honour of its patron, the Santissim Ecce Homo, running for nearly two weeks with open-air concerts, parades, children's days, an elders' night and a fireworks finale. The festivities close on July 1 with a midday mascleta on the Town Hall square, a solemn procession at 7 PM and a final fireworks display.
Pego gives its patron a proper send-off, and the town leans into it for the best part of a fortnight. This year the quintos tradition is back after two decades away, so expect five young-blood crews running parades, a costume contest and a noisy gimcana through the streets. There are two children's days too, with water games, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and family dancing into the evening.
The real spectacle lands late June, when thirteen filaes turn out for Moros y Cristianos: drums, banners and a grand procession on the 27th, with a junior version the day after. Music carries every night, from rock bands to brass and orchestras for late dancing. It all closes on July 1 with a midday mascleta hammering the Town Hall square, the Ecce Homo procession at 7pm, and fireworks to finish. Street events are free.
