Saint John's Eve Midsummer Celebration
The traditional Catalan midsummer night celebration with bonfires, music and festivities marking the start of summer. A lively, no-language-needed evening you can simply turn up to.
Across Catalonia, the shortest night of the year is the one everyone stays up for, and Sant Pere Pescador marks it on the evening of 23 June. The town puts on its Revetlla de Sant Joan from around 8pm, with bonfires, music and festivities to see off the old season and welcome summer in. It runs until late, so there's no rush to arrive early.
You don't need a word of Catalan to join in. This is a family evening, the kind locals turn out for in numbers, and Sant Joan is traditionally a night of food shared outdoors and cava poured freely. Wander down, find a spot near the flames, and let the night carry on around you.
