Sant Joan Midsummer Night (Revetlla de Sant Joan)
Catalonia's biggest midsummer night, when the Flame of Canigó arrives to light the town bonfire, followed by a procession with castellers, drummers and devils. A community dinner, open bar and live music with Police Line and a DJ keep the square going until 3am.
The night turns on fire. Around 7.15pm the Flame of Canigó reaches Plaça de la Fita, carried in by the Castellers del Foix, the human-tower crew, and handed over by the mayor at Plaça de la Vila. From there a procession winds towards Plaça del Mercat, drummers and fire-dancing devils leading the way, and the town bonfire is lit.
That's the cue for the square to fill with tables and chairs. People bring food, settle in with friends and family, and there's a bar running all night. Music kicks off around 10pm with the band Police Line and a DJ working through covers until 3am. It's a proper local affair rather than a tourist set-piece, free to wander into, and easy enough to join if you fancy staying up for the shortest night of the year.
