Saint John's Night (Nit de Sant Joan) on Miramar Beach
Miramar marks the magical summer-solstice night on the beach with organised, supervised bonfire areas, music and a festive seaside atmosphere. Traditional unregulated beach fires are not allowed, but the town sets up communal fire zones along Avenida de la Safor and the Riuet so everyone can gather and celebrate.
The shortest night of the year is a big deal along this stretch of the Valencian coast, and Miramar does it with a bit of common sense. Lighting your own fire on the sand is off the table here, so the town sets up supervised bonfire zones along Avenida de la Safor and down by the Riuet, then lets everyone gather round them. Things get going around 9pm on 23 June, with music and a loose, end-of-school-term sort of energy as the evening cools.
It's free, open to all and pleasantly local rather than polished. Bring something to sit on and a few drinks, settle in near one of the official fires and let the night run on. With the sea a few steps away and the celebrations carrying past midnight, it's an easy, unhurried way to spend the solstice.
