St. John's Night Bonfire & Beach Concerts (Noche de San Juan)
Pájara revives its traditional St. John's Night on Morro Jable beach with a big bonfire and free open-air concerts running through the evening, with live sets from El Chileno y Bolaños, La Banda del Cuco, Siroko and Quinta Cuerda. One of the most atmospheric nights of the Canarian summer: midsummer bonfires, music and the sea, free to attend. An eco-point lets you drop off waste and pick up a free towel.
San Juan is the night Spain says goodbye to the shortest darkness of the year, and Pájara has brought its old version back to Morro Jable beach after a long gap. Things kick off around 8pm on 23 June, with a proper bonfire built on the sand as the centrepiece and four bands taking turns through the evening: El Chileno y Bolaños, La Banda del Cuco, Siroko and Quinta Cuerda. It's free, and the music is pitched to suit all ages rather than any one crowd.
Tradition says you make a wish as the flames go up, and plenty of people wade into the sea at midnight to mark the solstice. There's an eco-point for your rubbish too, and drop something off and you'll get a free towel. Bring a jumper for when the breeze turns cool off the water.
