Outdoor Archery — Regional League Round 5
More than 60 archers take aim on the municipal sports field for the final round of Murcia's regional outdoor archery league. Free to watch, family-friendly and refreshingly easy to drop in on of a Sunday morning.
On a Sunday morning in June, the football field at San Pedro del Pinatar's municipal sports centre swaps studs for targets as more than sixty archers settle in for the fifth and final round of Murcia's regional outdoor archery league. It's the last chance to qualify before the territorial championship, so there's a bit of an edge to it, but it stays the sort of relaxed, local affair you can simply wander up to and watch. Roughly a third of the field are youngsters, and the line-up includes archers with disabilities and a few newcomers who took up the bow through "Arco y Salud", a scheme that uses archery to help people recover from cancer and rebuild their fitness.
Practical bit. It runs from 8am, organised by the Club Arcus Mar Menor with the regional federation and the town hall, and locals and visitors alike are invited along — no ticket, no fuss. The Polideportivo sits a short drive from the Mar Menor beaches and the Lo Pagán salt-mud spa, so it slots neatly into a morning out; a hire car makes hopping between the two easy.
